Nostalgia incarnate
I am basically the embodiment of nostalgia. One semester abroad has passed so quickly, it is crazy. I have absolutely loved my time in France.
My language skills have improved dramatically (although I am still very far off being fluent), I have met so many beautiful people, done incredibly fun things and travelled so much. However, at the same time I cannot wait to return home and see my family and friends.
So what am I going to miss about being on exchange at University of ESC Rouen? All of my friends, learning French being able to travel to new and extremely interesting places on weekends. I will miss buying good cheap French wine, food in general, except baguettes. I will also miss Paris and living independently.
Some highlights for me have been:
- Berlin, my favourite city, such amazing history, food, art, people
- Going on a wine tour in the south of France
- Strolling the streets of Paris
- Meeting so many friendly, open minded and outgoing people
- Bosnia
After the exams I will go to the Swiss Alps for Christmas with my brother. After this, the plan is to travel around Europe for another 5 weeks - staying with family and friends that I met while on exchange. Although it will be winter, I look forward to this, as it is an opportunity to revisit some places that I saw in summer.
Exchange has been such a fun experience. After being in Europe for six months, I know now that I want to move back here after finishing my degree. I adore the lifestyle, the attitude, the people and the food of France and I cannot wait for a revisit in the future.
I highly recommend everyone to study abroad. You will have so much fun and see so many new things. Do everything you can to make it happen - you will have no regrets!
