Swinburne was pleased to host a delegation of politicians from the Telegu Desam Party (TDP) last week as part of the group's 48 hour visit to Australia to meet with officials of the Australian Government and the Indian High Commission. Swinburne Deputy Vice-Chancellor Stephen Connelly met with the group and reassured them that Australians would not tolerate the recent attacks on Indian students.
Connelly pointed out that Australia employs world's best practice for looking after international students and that Swinburne has worked closely with students affected by the recent attacks.
The delegation also met Indian student groups, the victims of the recent attacks and local community leaders to find ways of improving the safety and security of Indian students.
