National Science Week: Library support for research

Posted August 08, 2012 in category General by Rebecca Parker

Once a year, National Science Week celebrates the achievements of Australian scientists to the world of science and technology. Here at Swinburne Library, we support our researchers every day of the year, helping to save you time and build your research profile. Here's an introduction to the many services available to you:

Promote your research through Swinburne Research Bank, an online open access collection of publications by Swinburne researchers designed to help your research reach a worldwide audience and maximise its potential for citation.

Profile your research
in Swinburne Researchers, which brings your publications, grants and research interests together on a single profile page. It's a great way to showcase your work and attract new collaborators and research students.

Publish your research
via the Swinburne Online Journals service, which provides a publication platform for online open access journals, including technical infrastructure support and advice on online publishing and copyright.

Manage and promote your research data
with the assistance of Swinburne Library staff and some handy resources.

Measure your research impact
using citation metrics such as h-indexes and journal impact factors. We can help you calculate these measures and make use of them for grant applications and research reporting exercises.

Stay up to date
with new developments in your fields automatically by setting up journal table of contents alerting services.

Access high quality research material through the Library's collection, which is designed to match Swinburne's areas of research concentration. Contact your Liaison Librarian with suggestions for additional material, or our inter-library loans service to access research material not available at Swinburne.

Manage your references using EndNote bibliographic software, which helps you create a database of references as you find them, or keep a list of your own publications to easily insert into grant applications.

Library services and resources are continually reviewed to meet your needs. If you have suggestions, contact Rebecca Parker, Research Services Librarian. Read more about how the Library supports research here, or through Rebecca's fortnightly column in the Research Bulletin.
