record collectionJohn Peel's legendary record collection is now online.

A champion of new music, John Peel was an english DJ and broadcaster. His radio program was one of the most important and innovative popular music shows on British radio for nearly four decades. Peel's incredible record collection is considered one of the most important and eclectic collections in the world, with over 25,000 LPs, 40,000 singles and thousands of CDs. It is really quite awesome.

As part of an archival project called 'The Space' around 2,600 records from Peel's vinyl collection have been catalogued and are gradually being made available through a great interactive website. The first batch of 100 records is now available online and more will be revealed week by week. Although copyright prevents the centre from streaming most records, links are included, when available, to Spotify and iTunes.

Take a tour around John Peel's virtual record collection.
