Updating EndNote
Posted January 31, 2012 in category General by Melinda GOODIN
The EndNote team supports EndNote X4 and X5. If you are using an older version, you may want to update.
- Back up your EndNote library and connected Word documents.
- Uninstall the older version of EndNote (using the Control Panel for Windows.)
- Borrow the EndNote X5 CD from the library and do a fresh install. It is also available on the NAL on Swinburne Windows computers.
- Update X5 from the Start > Programs > EndNote menu
Chrome doesn't export database records to EndNote
Posted September 27, 2011 in category General by Melinda GOODIN
Ebscohost and other databases create transfer text files with a .RIS extension. Problems occur if the web browser doesn't know how to transfer the RIS files to EndNote.
1. If Chrome doesn't know how to handle a RIS file, it will automatically send the RIS file to the My Documents/Downloads folder instead. An tab for the file will appear in the Downloads bar at the bottom of the Chrome window.
2. Click on the little dropdown arrow next to the saved file.
3.
Click on "Always open files of this type" - this
should create the association between Chrome, RIS files and EndNote.
4. Double click to export the records to EndNote.
5. From now on, exported references should automatically transfer to EndNote.
