Kat's 4th entry - Snow and beaches

Posted November 13, 2007 in category Kathryn in Canada

Hi guys,

The past few weeks in Canada have flown, cannot believe my trip is going so fast! It seems like I started college a couple of weeks ago, yet I only have 3 weeks of classes left.
The weather is starting to get very cold, which means skiing and snowboarding time. :) Am looking forward to hitting a ski resort over here called 'Big White' as Aussies run and own it. As much as I love Canadians, I miss the Aussie accent and casual, laid back attitude!

Hi everyone, how are your trips going?

Kathryn's 2nd entry - Rafting!

Posted September 24, 2007 in category Kathryn in Canada

Hi everyone, hope you're all enjoying your time in Australia or abroad.

I am having a fantastic time in Canada so far, there's so much to do and see! On Saturday Mike (a Canadian student who was on exchange at Swinburne last semester) organised a rafting trip for all of the international students. We met at the college where a bus picked us up and drove us to the Thompson Ravine where we began our 38km rafting trip. The water was great - it was still but also rocky in some places and was actually quite warm as I discovered when one of the other guys on the raft pushed me in! We stopped for lunch halfway through and had a bbq dinner. It was such a fun day!

Kathryn's 1st entry - Arriving in Canada

Posted September 06, 2007 in category Kathryn in Canada

Hi boys and girls :)

Well after spending 2 weeks travelling through Italy my semester at Okanagan College in Canada began today!! So far it is very similar to uni back home, which is making it easier to adapt.

The international department here is so cool with all the staff setting up and organising many activities - such as trips to the ski resorts (not that it's snowing just yet) camping trips, sporting events and winery tours.
